What makes Stray’s different? #1
We never use re-heated milk.
Every type of Latte, Cappuccino, Hot Chocolate, Macchiato & Mocha is made with freshly poured, freshly steamed milk.
We wouldn’t want to drink re-heated milk so why would you? Ok, so it means we don’t make as much money as some of the corporate coffee giants, but anything else just would be Stray’s…
We make our coffees with whole milk as the norm because it tastes better!
Please let us know if you would prefer ‘semi’ or ‘skinny’ or soya milk and we’ll adjust your drink accordingly.
We make tea with half-fat milk again, unless you prefer it another way.
Our coffee starts with a strong, nutty espresso which is not for the faint-hearted – taking between 23 and 27 seconds to extract ensures your brew is slightly bitter but not burnt or watery.
We can add or reduce how much espresso is in your drink and one of the real plus points about our family-owned and run business is that we take pride in tweaking many of our regular customers coffees to their exact specification.
If you prefer your latte a little more ‘foamy’ or your cappuccino ‘dry’, we’re here to make it happen! You might want three shots in your cappuccino or some hot milk spooning onto your Americano – just let us know how you like your coffee and we’ll make sure it’s as it should be, just for you.
We also sell teas, soft drinks and hot chocolate but our true passion is for coffee.
How did it all start?
I’d love to tell you we did loads of scientific research to come up with a special model. It’d be great to say that we tested loads of different consumers and worked out the niche.
The truth is simple. Wherever I went, it always seemed almost impossible to find a good cup of coffee. By good, I mean a decent espresso with well prepared, hot milk in it!
My thought was that the only way to guarantee a decent brew was to learn how to do it and open a coffee bar of our own. With a few adventures in between, that’s how Stray’s came about, back in 2003 and the rest, as they say, is history.
Our ethos today is the same as it was back then. People want to pay for something they can’t get elsewhere, and it definitely has to better than can be made in their own home! That drives us to continue to provide the best coffee you’ll have today.

We grind our decaf from beans…
Some ‘establishments’ use pre-ground decaf coffee because it’s easier and cheaper – it also tastes dire…
We buy decaf beans and grind them in a separate grinder daily.
So next time you buy your decaf coffee from us, don’t worry – we haven’t made a mistake and given you a regular coffee – it’s just hard to tell the difference ‘cos our decaf’s sooooooo good!
